The SCIB UK Operational Risk Team evidence the Operational Risk Management Framework and support the Branch’s identification, assessment, management and reporting of operational risk. In this interesting role, you’ll help evidence the embedding of the Operational Risk Framework in the 1st Line of Defence and support Operational Risk Governance. You’ll focus on the execution of the Operational Risk programmes including Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), Metrics, Operational Risk Event Management and Scenarios & Control Testing.

You’ll work closely with various departments to ensure the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of operational risks.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Supporting with the identification and assessment of operational risks across various departments and processes within the bank
  • Working with functional areas to identify and develop detailed risk scenarios that outline potential risk events, their causes, and consequences
  • Ensuring action drivers and mitigated actions are underway including the establishment of robust controls and procedures
  • Overseeing the continuous monitoring of operational risks, ensuring accurate reporting to senior management and relevant stakeholders
  • Reviewing external events which identify as operational risks through data analysis, industry research, and collaboration with other departments
  • Contributing to the automation and digitalisation of operational risk management framework and associated global and local programmes

What you’ll bring:

  • Previous experience in an Operational Risk role within an investment banking environment
  • Knowledge of wholesale banking products
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Ability to interrogate sources of operational risk data and translate into meaningful business insight
  • Knowledge and understanding of Basel Operational Risk principles
  • Experience in automating operational risk processes and innovating around data

What else you need to know:

This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston. We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles). If you apply for this role in this location, it’s important you consider your travelling distance, time and cost from your home to the office location. We’re happy to discuss specific working patterns and arrangement within this hybrid approach during the recruitment process.
