THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE
Santander is looking for a Product Designer based out of Milton Keynes. This role is on a fixed term contract for 12 months. As a Product Designer within the Homes User Experience team, you’ll play a key role in shaping Santander’s digital home-buying and mortgage experiences. Working across the end-to-end product design lifecycle, you’ll turn complex customer and business needs into simple, intuitive and accessible experiences across web and mobile.
You’ll combine product design expertise with hands-on user research, using customer insight and testing to inform your decisions, validate solutions and continuously improve the experience. Working closely with Product, Engineering and our wider UK and global design community, you’ll help deliver high-quality experiences that improve customer outcomes and shape the future of Santander’s digital Homes journeys.

- Own and deliver end-to-end product design across digital Homes journeys, from discovery and problem definition through to design, validation and delivery.
- Translate customer needs and complex business requirements into simple, intuitive and accessible experiences across web and mobile.
- Create user journeys, flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-quality UI designs to explore, communicate and deliver solutions.
- Plan and conduct appropriate user research and usability testing to understand customer needs, validate assumptions and inform design decisions.
- Use customer insight, research findings and available data to iterate designs and continuously improve the customer experience.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Engineers and other stakeholders throughout delivery, ensuring the implemented experience reflects the design intent and meets the required quality.
- Collaborate with Santander's UK and global design community, applying and contributing to shared design systems, standards and best practice to create consistent, scalable and accessible experiences.
- Facilitate collaborative design activities and clearly communicate design rationale, customer insight and recommendations to stakeholders.

Professional Experience:
- Demonstrable experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer or equivalent, with a solid track record of delivering high-quality customer-facing digital experiences (Required)
- Experience working across the end-to-end product design lifecycle, taking complex digital journeys from discovery and problem definition through to design, validation and delivery, balancing customer, business and technical needs (Required)
- Hands-on experience using user research and usability testing to understand customer needs, validate solutions and inform design decisions (Required)
- Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary Agile teams and contributing to the successful delivery of digital products (Required)
- Experience engaging and influencing stakeholders, using design expertise and customer evidence to build alignment and support decision-making (Required)
- A good portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design experience, design thinking and the impact of your work (Required)
- Experience within financial services, mortgages, lending or other regulated environments, balancing customer needs with business and compliance constraints (Preferred)
- Experience working within large-scale design organisations, including collaboration across wider or global design teams (Preferred)
- Experience using qualitative and quantitative customer evidence to inform product and design decisions (Preferred)
Education:
- Degree or equivalent professional experience in Product Design, UX, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Human-Centred Design or a related discipline (Required)
- Relevant professional training or certification in Product Design, UX, User Research, Accessibility or a related discipline (Preferred)
Hard Skills:
- Excellent end-to-end product design capability, with substantial hands-on experience in interaction design, UI design and translating complex requirements into intuitive digital experiences (Required)
- Advanced practical experience using Figma to create user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-quality responsive UI designs across web and mobile (Required)
- Demonstrable hands-on experience planning and conducting user research, including customer interviews, concept testing and moderated usability testing (Required)
- Good ability to analyse and synthesise customer research and feedback, translating findings into actionable insights and design decisions (Required)
- Practical experience working with and contributing to design systems, components and established UI patterns (Required)
- Solid working knowledge and practical application of accessibility standards, including WCAG, and inclusive design principles (Required)
- Experience with additional research methods, including unmoderated usability testing, surveys and quantitative research (Preferred)
- Experience using research and testing platforms such as UserZoom, UserTesting, Attest, Maze or equivalent (Preferred)
- Experience using behavioural and product analytics alongside qualitative research to inform design decisions (Preferred)
- Experience using AI-enabled tools and techniques to support product design and research activities (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of front-end technologies and their implications for design and delivery (Preferred)

Salary Range: £52,459.00 - £78,689.00 per annum (depending on experience). This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
