Risk & Compliance is looking for a Monitoring Manager – Fraud, Financial Crime & AML Lifecycle Controls based in Milton Keynes or Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to join our specialist Compliance Monitoring team responsible for delivering independent second line assurance across Fraud, Financial Crime and AML Lifecycle Controls. As a Monitoring Manager within Compliance Monitoring, you will lead and deliver risk-based reviews that provide independent assurance over the design and effectiveness of fraud, financial crime and AML Lifecycle control frameworks.

Working closely with stakeholders across Fraud, Financial Crime, Risk and the wider business, you'll provide valuable insights that strengthen governance, identify emerging risks and support continuous improvement. You'll also contribute to the ongoing enhancement of monitoring methodologies, helping to ensure Santander continues to meet regulatory expectations while protecting customers and the Bank.

  • Acting as Review Lead for risk-based monitoring reviews across Fraud, Financial Crime and AML Lifecycle Controls, ensuring high-quality, timely and evidence-based assurance outcomes.
  • Leading all phases of review delivery, including planning, scoping, testing, stakeholder engagement, reporting and issue validation.
  • Assessing the design and operating effectiveness of fraud, financial crime and AML Lifecycle controls, identifying risks, control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Providing independent challenge and oversight across Fraud Risk Management, Fraud Prevention and Detection Controls, AML Lifecycle Controls, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Financial Crime governance and related control frameworks.
  • Producing clear, concise and impactful reports that communicate findings, ratings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Using data analytics, management information and risk insights to identify emerging fraud and financial crime risks, thematic issues and opportunities to strengthen the control environment.
  • Building effective relationships across the organisation to support constructive challenge, sustainable remediation and positive risk outcomes.
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of Compliance Monitoring methodologies, tools and approaches.
  • Contributing to the delivery of the risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan aligned to strategic priorities, emerging risks and regulatory expectations.

  • Professional Experience
    • Experience within Compliance Monitoring, Financial Crime Assurance, Internal Audit, Risk Assurance or a related second or third line assurance function within Financial Services. (Required)
    • Excellent knowledge of Fraud Risk Management, Fraud Controls, AML Lifecycle Controls, Financial Crime Risk Management, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption and relevant regulatory requirements. (Required)
    • Proven experience leading end-to-end assurance, monitoring or testing reviews, including planning, fieldwork, stakeholder management and reporting. (Required)
    • Experience assessing control effectiveness and identifying risks, control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement. (Required)
    • Experience communicating findings and recommendations to stakeholders and influencing positive outcomes. (Required)
    • Experience across Retail, Business or Corporate Banking fraud, AML and financial crime environments. (Preferred)
    • Experience using data-led assurance techniques and analytics to support monitoring activity. (Preferred)
  • Education
    • Degree or equivalent professional experience. (Required)
    • ICA, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), CISI, IIA or equivalent professional qualification. (Preferred)
  • Languages
    • English. (Required)
  • Hard Skills
    • Great knowledge of Financial Crime Risk Management, AML Lifecycle Controls and associated regulatory expectations. (Required)
    • Great analytical skills with the ability to interpret information, identify risks and draw meaningful conclusions. (Required)
    • Experience supporting assurance activity through the use of data analytics, visualisation or workflow management tools. (Preferred)
    • Good understanding of assurance methodologies, monitoring frameworks and control effectiveness testing. (Required)

    Salary Range: £54,318.00 - £81,478.00 per annum (depending on experience). This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
