We have an exciting opportunity for an AWS Data Engineer Support to join our team of analysts to create the data and insights which support the functional areas of the bank. You'll play a key role understanding the types of models and data frameworks that support the business strategies around our data assets. This will require excellent communication skills, functional awareness and an excellent analytical capability.

What you'll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Experience developing, testing, and deploying data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts using ideally AWS services such as S3, Glue, Athena, EMR, Kinesis, and Lambda
  • Understanding of the principles behind designing and implementing data lake, lake house and/or data mesh architecture
  • Problem solving skill with basic knowledge of the change management process
  • Demonstrates understanding of technical models and their connectivity with business practices and operations
  • Basic knowledge of governance and compliance policies, standards, and procedures required to fulfil role e.g. data security and records management

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Degree/qualification in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies in a rapidly evolving field of data management and analytics
  • Clear and effective communication skills to interact with team members, stakeholders and end users conveying technical concepts in a comprehensible manner
  • Skills across the following data competencies: SQL (AWS Athena/Hive/Snowflake), Hadoop/EMR/Spark/Scala, Data structures (tables, views, stored procedures), Data Modelling - star/snowflake Schemas, efficient storage, normalisation, Data Transformation, DevOps - data pipelines, Controls - selection and build, Reference and metadata management

What else you need to know:

This role is based in Unity Place - Milton Keynes. We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
