Santander is looking for an AI Engineer in CDMX or Querétaro. We are redefining our way of working through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration, and the freedom to explore new ideas.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Tuning prompts and extraction logic so that a pipeline processes complex documents more accurately, and building the test sets that demonstrate this.
• Implementing tools, parsers, validators, and orchestration modules within larger agent systems.
• Running ML experiments, comparing approaches, documenting results, and building reproducible benchmarks.
• Connecting APIs, moving data between systems, writing tests, and ensuring that the pieces fit in production.
• Implementing components of ML and Gen AI solutions under the guidance of more experienced engineers.

The following requirements represent the essential knowledge, skills, and competencies for this position:

• 1 to 5 years of professional experience in Data Science, ML, AI, or data-oriented software development.
• Education in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related fields.
• Technical skills in machine learning & statistics.
• Understanding of fundamental concepts of supervised and unsupervised learning, cross-validation, and evaluation metrics.
• Familiarity with LLMs, embeddings, prompting, and basic RAG concepts.
• Ability to build simple flows with LLMs: structured prompts, API calls to models, parsing responses.
• Functional Python: clean, readable, and testable code.
• Basic SQL knowledge.
• Version control (Git), basic testing, project structure.
• Willingness to evolve from notebooks to modular and productive code.
