Santander Consumer Finance UK (SCUK) is based in Redhill, Surrey and provides motor finance to a network of car dealerships throughout the United Kingdom. This role is a Data Analyst position on a 12‑month Fixed Term Contract, working a minimum of 3 days a week in the Redhill office. Reporting to the Data Access and Commissions Oversight Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining standardized automated processes compliant with data governance requirements across SCUK’s operations, ensuring business‑as‑usual KPIs can be measured by leadership teams and that ongoing change is supported by meaningful and analyzed data.

You will also be tasked with conducting regular, in‑depth analysis of data to identify trends, forecast for the future and proactively identify areas for improvement, ultimately supporting leadership teams to make informed decisions and continuously improve customer experience and service performance.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and adapting in a busy, pressurized and frequently changing environment while maintaining a confident and consistent approach.
  • Building effective strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, managing expectations and mediating between competing priorities.
  • Communicating, presenting and influencing at all levels paired with excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Planning and organizing own workload and ensuring that this is completed to a high standard.
  • Proactive approach towards self‑development and maintaining commitment in working towards team and company objectives.

Data responsibilities:

  • Explaining complex formulas and ways of working to non‑technical colleagues often foreseeing requirements prior to being requested.
  • Employing a rapid‑response service to take care of quick‑fire and simple business questions.
  • Directing and promoting a standardized approach to data best practices, encouraging greater coherency and robust assurance.
  • Defining, creating and maintaining the data required for ad‑hoc and regular reporting as well as dashboards needed for program delivery and/or portfolio‑level decision making.
  • Having a proven grasp of data structure and databases alongside a demonstrable understanding of commercial data.
  • Developing strong methodologies and clearly defined processes.
  • Handling large volumes of data using experience and knowledge of SAS, SQL Server and Business Objects.
  • Promoting sound governance and working in line with control frameworks to ensure data is of the highest accuracy, traceability and streamlining, including creating and updating procedure guides to evidence how tools and reports function.

Regulation:

  • Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements, specifically surrounding Consumer Duty and GDPR, ensuring solutions align to our commitment to set high standards in order to achieve good customer outcomes.
  • Understanding of the Financial Conduct Authority’s investigation into motor finance commission.
  • Dealing with, or escalating identified risks in relation to SCUK UK risk policies and/or legislative and regulatory guidelines in accordance with the Santander UK group risk framework.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Good analytical, problem‑solving and conceptual skills to develop methodologies/processes.
  • An enthusiastic and driven individual evidenced by a proven track record.
  • Previous experience using BI tools like Tableau, Power BI or QlikView for data visualization and analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data manipulation (Index, Match, VBA, complex formulas).
  • Experience of implementing suitable control mechanisms to prevent occurrence or re‑occurrence of data quality issues.
  • A strong understanding of data security and compliance standards to protect the integrity and confidentiality of data.
  • Technical Writing skills – the natural skill to convey complex data findings to non‑technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner (including technical writing to create accurate product and service documentation).
  • Attention to detail and strong time‑management skills.
  • Analytics experience/qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with and present to both internal and external stakeholders across all levels.

Desirable skills (not essential):

  • Management experience/previous project management experience.
  • Demonstrates accountability and showcases sound ownership of reporting‑related activities.
  • Experience with Power Query or Power Automate.
  • Experience with Python or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of database interrogation & programming skills (relational database, advanced select queries, indexes and constraints).
