Job Description

Santander Consumer Finance UK (SCUK) is based in Redhill, Surrey and provides motor finance to a network of dealerships throughout the United Kingdom.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join out Technology Business Area as a Technical Product Owner. This Product Owner will be responsible for the functional design, and development roadmap and live service for Santander Consumer Finance’s leasing platforms.

Please note this role is based in Redhill, Surrey and requires at least 3 days in the office, remote workers will not be considered.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Creation and prioritization of the product backlog
  • Responsible for translating business requirements into technology capabilities by working with development teams, business experts and testing teams
  • End-to-end ownership, quality control and performance of the products
  • Strategic vision for the products, including the development roadmap
  • Act as arbitrator between business stakeholders and development teams to match business priority to development capacity
  • Financial and demand management for the product
  • Stakeholder management across the business and third-party suppliers
  • Management of the product team including resourcing, line management, prioritization and optimizing ways of working
  • Acting as the technical consultant for new projects or platform features and be the intermediary between the business users and engineering teams
  • Adhering to our commitment to Consumer Duty ensuring we put our customers’ needs first and set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection

What we’re looking for:

  • Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • The ability to chair, own, and steer critical development meetings to achieve a satisfactory outcome
  • Someone who demonstrates awareness and understanding of the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to their role
  • Have a high-level understanding of technical and operational product aspects that need to be considered for product decisions
  • 5 years+ experience as a technical product owner or similar role
  • Experience with software development lifecycle
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Experienced in .NET and Oracle technologies
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of Santander’s business strategy and model and translates vision into priorities and direction
  • Someone who Identifies, assesses, manages and reports risks within own business area and across Santander
  • Ability to manage repeatable standard processes along with an ability to find, own and resolve ad-hoc issues
  • Able to demonstrate awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the firm operates
  • Ability to anticipate and create new perspectives and ideas that resolve problems and take advantage of opportunities in the mid term
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess the effectiveness of Santander’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and oversees changes when required
  • Someone who can lead the development of a culture focused upon providing an excellent quality service to clients
