The UK & Ireland Medical Team at Sanofi is a high-performing team of Medical leaders who are a trusted source of scientific and Medical information and shared insights. This role is part of a significant transformation aligning Medical functions in General Medicines that will bring us closer to R&D, maximizing impact earlier in development, while maintaining strong business alignment. This role is critical in driving Sanofi's leadership in the evolving transplant space for both CGVHD and solid organ transplant, particularly in supporting the successful integration of our transplant portfolio and future pipeline innovations while reshaping the understanding of transplantation as a field where innovative therapies can significantly improve patient outcomes.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Strategy & Innovation
    • Develop and execute the UK & Ireland Transplant Medical strategy, integrated Medical Action Plan and integrated Evidence Generation Plan (iEGP) to ensure access to innovative therapies.
    • Champion innovative omnichannel strategies within transplant medical affairs.
    • Lead digital transformation of medical engagement practices for transplant stakeholders.
    • Provide strategic leadership and cross-functional alignment across R&D, Field Medical, Country Medical Heads, Global Medical, Digital teams, and other internal stakeholders to maximize pipeline opportunities and ensure consistent execution of the transplant medical strategy.
    • Drive data-driven decision making and analytics in transplant medical activities.
    • Leverage Centres of Excellence to implement best practices and innovation in transplant management.
  • Commercial Alignment & Value Demonstration
    • Foster collaborative partnerships with commercial teams, balancing scientific advancement with business objectives for the transplant franchise, while maintaining clear boundaries between medical and promotional activities and preserving independent medical decision-making.
    • Develop value demonstration strategies that leverage enhanced evidence generation for transplant therapies.
    • Collaborate with market access to optimize evidence planning for payer needs in transplantation.
    • Drive cross-functional alignment across R&D and commercial functions for transplant innovative therapies.
  • R&D Integration & Evidence Generation
    • Lead early engagement with R&D to shape development programs for transplant therapies.
    • Provide local healthcare system insights to influence global clinical development plans for Rezurock and pipeline transplant treatments.
    • Enhance evidence generation strategies through stronger R&D collaboration.
    • Drive the adoption of digital tools, AI and platforms for data collection and analysis in transplant patient management.
  • People Leadership
    • Lead UK & Ireland Transplant Medical team through direct and matrix management.
    • Create robust career pathways and development plans across the transplant organization.
    • Serve as a role model that embodies Sanofi's culture of innovation and excellence in transplant management.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance for the development of advanced educational materials and modern engagement approaches.
    • Foster growth and development through clear performance expectations and regular coaching/feedback.

    • Drive talent attraction and retention initiatives for transplant specialists.
  • External Stakeholder Engagement
    • Lead and maintain comprehensive stakeholder engagement plans incorporating omnichannel approaches for transplant specialists.
    • Support and accelerate a favourable policy and market access environment for therapies in transplantation.
    • Drive the evolution of the transplant narrative, emphasizing innovative approaches and improved patient outcomes.
    • Identify and address challenges to optimal patient care through partnership with Systems of Care, Academic Medical Centres, HCPs, Professional Societies, and Patient Organizations.
    • Support acceleration of policy environment for transplant innovation and access to therapies.
    • Ensure the integration of patient voice into transplant medical strategies and activities.
    • Design and execute strategic external engagement activities through multiple channels.
  • Medical Operations & Digital Excellence
    • Champion the implementation of omnichannel engagement strategies for transplant stakeholders.
    • Leverage AI potential to identify opportunities and accelerate access to innovative therapies.
    • Provide Medical guidance to internal Sanofi customers on transplant therapies.
    • Oversee creation of modern educational materials and digital engagement tools for transplantation.
    • Develop and oversee the transplant medical budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
    • Lead the measurement and analysis of engagement effectiveness with transplant stakeholders.
    • Drive the integration of digital solutions in transplant medical operations.
  • Ethical Leadership and Compliance
    • This role requires strict adherence to the ABPI & IPHA Codes of Practice and all applicable healthcare regulations.
    • Maintain thorough knowledge of and ensure all activities comply with the ABPI & IPHA Codes of Practice and relevant regulations.
    • Stay informed about ABPI and IPHA codes of practice & regulatory changes and adapt practices accordingly.
    • Establish clear boundaries between medical and promotional activities.
    • Foster a culture of compliance within the team through regular training and oversight.

    • Maintain appropriate documentation demonstrating compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.

The Medical Head Transplant will be accountable for ensuring that all team activities uphold the highest ethical standards and maintain the scientific independence of medical affairs functions while effectively collaborating across the organization.

About you
  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate level education: MD or equivalent Medical degree preferred, PhD or PharmD preferred.
    • 5+ years experience in Medical Affairs, ideally with relevant transplant/endocrinology experience.
    • 3+ years' experience in managing teams.
    • Ability to travel up to 20-30% of the time.
    • Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations and codes.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in transplant management, particularly T1D or related conditions.
    • Track record of successful launches of innovative therapies.
    • Experience in autoimmune T1D from academia/research and/or pharma industry.
    • Strong understanding of the UK & Ireland Healthcare system, particularly in transplant care pathways.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong business acumen with focus on digital innovation and transformation in transplant care.
    • Proven ability to lead change and drive digital adoption in medical affairs.
    • Deep understanding of drug development processes and clinical research in autoimmune conditions.
    • Knowledge of transplant and disease-modifying therapies for autoimmune T1D.
    • Excellence in stakeholder management across multiple channels.
    • Strong data analytics and insight generation capabilities.
    • Ability to effectively manage and develop teams in a transforming environment.
    • Understanding of digital platforms and their application in medical affairs.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
    • Proven ability to drive innovation while maintaining compliance.
