Job Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist drives collaboration across the organization to identify needs and develop scalable solutions.
This role owns procurement and supplier engagement for the EMEA region while supporting global activities, delivering year-over-year cost improvement and productivity gains.
Operating under minimal supervision, this leader sets priorities and executes strategies to achieve company objectives.
Essential Functions
- Strategic Sourcing & Risk Management
- Drive cost reduction across EMEA procurement through volume-tiered discounts, alternate supplier evaluation, and industry benchmarking, in close partnership with site operational teams.
- Identify critical materials and high-risk suppliers, own the EMEA risk assessment process, and maintain mitigation plans; escalate business risks to the appropriate level of management.
- Develop and implement joint strategies with suppliers, setting performance and capacity goals, and lead cross-functional supplier engagement teams to drive performance and alignment with Sani Sure's objectives.
- Partner with Supply Chain planning to build effective supply plans, ensure continuity of component supply, and proactively resolve bottlenecks.
- Develop raw material and supply chain strategy aligned to short/long-term roadmaps — improving inventory management, quality, and logistics while balancing inventory levels against savings (MOQ).
- Leverage Operational Excellence tools to embed a Continuous Improvement mindset across the supply portfolio and related processes.
- Lead business case development for capacity expansion and investment to meet Sani Sure's mid- and long-term needs.
- Represent Procurement in Sani Sure manufacturing, supply chain, and other cross-functional forums.
- Contracts
- Initiate and negotiate supplier contracts as needed, ensuring compliance with contractual, technical, Supply Chain, regulatory, and quality requirements.
- Evaluate current and new suppliers, leading qualification processes to determine the optimal setup for supply contracts.
- Manage vendor contract data — verifying quantity and quality of incoming shipments, checking invoice accuracy, and resolving discrepancies with vendors.
- Lead or assist with RFI, RFP, and RFQ administration.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (business or related discipline preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience in manufacturing within the medical/biotech or other ISO-regulated industry.
- 10+ years of operations experience in the biopharma/pharmaceutical industry (ideally single-use sector), including 5+ years managing and building effective teams.
- 7+ years in procurement management within pharmaceuticals, biopharma, medical device, or other regulated industries.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background in biotech supply chain risk management and operational excellence methodologies, including supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, insourcing/outsourcing, and contract negotiation.
- Familiarity with biopharma manufacturing processes (clean room operations, sterilization, etc.) and c GMP quality/technical requirements.
- Demonstrated progression as supervisor, manager, and leader of operations teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering), with proven success leading cross-functional supplier or operations teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to build strategic relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders (Finance, Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering) at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to develop executive management-level recommendations.
- Self-driven and adaptable, with a track record as an effective team player across multi-site, global networks.
- Deep understanding of supply and quality agreements, KPIs, capacity planning, and global forecasting.
- Experience with new product introductions and/or technology transfers.
- Six Sigma, Lean, or project management certification is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); experience with ERP systems (e. g., Syteline).
