Sandy Pines is seeking a dynamic and talented Night Shift Unit Coordinator. Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center is a 149‑bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The facility is located in beautiful sub‑tropical South Florida.
Responsibilities:
- Management of the milieu of the units assigned and supervising the Mental Health Technicians on their assigned unit.
- Assist the Charge Nurse in organizing and monitoring all aspects of resident care.
- Represent the Mental Health Technicians in committee meetings.
- Observe patients to detect behaviour patterns and document observations.
- Take and record measures of patients’ general physical condition, such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure and respiration.
- Notify Charge Nurse or appropriate staff of abnormal values.
- Facilitate patient education and activity groups.
- Assist the patient with ADLs and personal needs (i.e., management of clothing and property; grooming).
- Use approved verbal and physical de‑escalation techniques.
- Escort patients to meals, breaks and other activities.
- Promote a therapeutic environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned/required by this position.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and three to five years’ experience working with children or adolescents required, or A.A. degree and one year experience. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Previous psych experience preferred.
- Current CPR Certification (training provided).
- Detail oriented and ability to successfully multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and organization skills.
- Highly effective listening skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Continuous verbal and written communication, hearing ordinary conversation.
- Occasionally hearing high pitched or low‑pitched sounds.
- Continuous firm/simple grasping and fine manipulating of both hands.
