Overview

Hope View School are seeking to appoint a full time teaching assistant for an immediate start. Experience of working as a teaching assistant within schools is essential. The successful candidate will need to be available to start work at 7.50am each day and would be primarily based at our site in Chilham.

Experience of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs would be an advantage but is not essential. Willingness to work within a small team and an organised but flexible approach is crucial. High standards of classroom management, professionalism and a strong work ethic are required as is the ability to be empathetic, understanding and supportive of our pupils and their needs.

Post requirements

The successful applicant will need to possess the following qualities:

  • Relevant experience working as a teaching assistant within an educational setting.
  • An excellent standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English, maths and IT at grades “C” or above.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small team.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills.
  • An understanding of the ethos of the school and the ability to work within this ethos in order to support and develop all pupils regardless of ability, education, behavioural, social or emotional needs.
  • A willingness to play a full part in the life of the school with regard to supporting in lessons, pastoral care, curriculum enrichment activities and building positive relationships with pupils and staff alike.
  • An understanding of the importance of the need for safeguarding the health and well being of all pupils within the school. Upholding the school’s policies and procedures with regard to child protection and safeguarding is an essential requirement.
  • The post requires applicants to fully complete anapplication form, CVs alone will not be accepted.
  • Safeguarding checks including self-disclosure declaration, online checks and references will be carried out for all candidates short-listed for interview. A DBS check will be required for the successful applicant.
  • The successful applicant will undertake a period of induction/supervision which will be overseen by their Line Manager. This will last for the applicant’s probationary period i.e. one term.
  • Salary ÂŁ18,000 – ÂŁ23,000 per annum depending on experience
