Are you a Qualified Teacher/Lecturer of Motor Vehicle Maintenance committed to improving the lives of students and young people? Are you seeking a role that will enable you to make a positive impact on the lives of students facing challenging circumstances?

The VTC in Sittingbourne is recruiting a Qualified Motor Vehicles Maintenance Teacher to start ASAP on a permanent contract (following a probationary period). Students within VTC may be facing a variety of challenges that mean they have not had successful experiences within mainstream schools. They may have damaged or low self-esteem, social and emotional problems, or additional special educational needs, and may not be working at an age-appropriate educational level.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor students and support them to maximise their progress, achievement and potential.
  • Take Form Tutor responsibility for KS3/4/5 pupils.
  • Contribute to a safeguarding culture where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.
  • Work in a school with a clear ethos and a focus on inclusive, supportive teaching.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Educated to Qualified Teacher Status or QTLL/LS.
  • Calm, engaging, resilient, and with an innovative, inclusive style of teaching; motivated by helping every student reach their potential.
  • Experience in SEN/SENCo roles is desirable; if applicable, SENCo duties would be advisory and supported by the SENCo administrative assistant.
  • Previous experience in SEN/SEMH environments is desirable; however, strong teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and resilience are also highly valued.

At the VTC, we provide specialist education for pupils in years 9 to 13. Located across 2 sites, we offer a variety of vocational learning opportunities and post 16+ pathways. Our students are taught in small class sizes and work towards qualifications dependent on their needs and ability.
