Due to additional funding, we have an exciting vacancy available for a 1:1 SEND teaching assistant who is trained in level 1 BSL to support a pupil with a hearing impairment. The role will involve promoting the learning and personal development of the pupil and enabling the child to communicate with her peers and adults.
Either Level 1 BSL or willing to undertake the necessary training. Has previous experience working within a Primary School setting or primary aged children. Is committed and passionate about helping children to learn, thrive and flourish. Has experience of successfully working as part of a team. Is committed to ongoing professional development.
We can offer you:
- Children who are respectful, warm and want to learn.
- A truly supportive team of staff at Newington.
- Support and guidance from our excellent SENCO and Local inclusion team.
- A well-resourced and innovative school.
- Ongoing training to support own professional development.
Experience of working with children with SEND and key documents including EHCP's and personalised plans would be an advantage but is not essential. Training will be provided. Fundamentally, we are looking for a candidate who is kind, hard-working and who will work with the child's best interests at the heart of everything they do.
You will be contracted to work 30 hours per week, during term time only, 8.30-3pm. The position commences as soon as possible. It is a fixed term contract until 31 August 2027 in the first instance. We may interview applicants at an earlier date than stated, therefore encourage candidates to apply early.
Please contact Suzanne Legge, Assistant headteacher and SENCO, by email with any queries or questions regarding the role.
At Newington Community Primary School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and expect staff and visitors to share this commitment. This post is subject to satisfactory references and DBS clearance.
