Garlinge Primary School is seeking a PE and Sports Teaching Assistant to support the PE department and help children reach their full potential. The role will involve working with a full range of pupils, including those with physical disabilities, challenging behaviour and SEMH needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering PE and sports activities to small groups of children.
- Support pupils with a wide range of learning needs and complex barriers to learning.
- Manage sporting equipment and facilities, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Collaborate with the PE team and other staff to deliver a varied and inclusive PE curriculum.
Qualifications & Experience
- Level 1 qualification in sport or equivalent sports and PE knowledge.
- Experience of the PE/Sports curriculum within a school setting is desirable.
- Working knowledge of children with physical disabilities, challenging behaviour, SEMH needs and complex barriers to learning.
- Good standard of general education; GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above are desirable.
- Must be able to produce original certificate for any claimed qualifications.
- Right to work in the UK and not barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
Work Conditions & Pay
- 26 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 6.5 hours per day).
- Core hours 8:15am – 4:15pm; flexibility for clubs and fixtures.
- Term‑time only, 38 weeks per year.
- Fixed‑term contract until 31 August 2027.
- Pay: KSA (approx. £14,629 per annum pro‑rata).
