About the Role
Heath Farm College is looking for a passionate and talented Hair and Beauty Instructor to inspire and support young people aged 14β19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. In this rewarding role, you will deliver high-quality vocational education and hands-on practical training to small groups of pupils, helping them develop valuable industry skills, confidence, independence and employability. Through engaging, real-world learning experiences, you will support learners to achieve recognised vocational qualifications up to Level 2, preparing them for further education, training or future employment. The vocational programmes you deliver will reflect your qualifications, teaching experience and industry expertise. We welcome applications from professionals with experience in Hairdressing, Barbering, Beauty Therapy, Nail Technology, Make-Up Artistry, or other related hair and beauty disciplines who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and making a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Hair, Barbering and Beauty lessons that combine practical and theoretical learning.
- Deliver high-quality vocational education, supporting pupils to achieve recognised qualifications and reach their individual potential.
- Develop creative learning resources and practical activities that build industry skills, confidence, independence and employability.
- Assess, monitor and record pupil progress, providing constructive feedback and targeted support through one-to-one and small-group interventions.
- Contribute to the development of the Hair & Beauty curriculum and support the coordination of vocational learning opportunities, including off-site placements where appropriate.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and high expectations.
- Work collaboratively with education, therapy and pastoral teams to deliver outstanding outcomes for every pupil.
- Contribute to pupil reviews, curriculum planning and wider school improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and professional learning environment, ensuring safeguarding is at the heart of your practice.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about Hair, Barbering and Beauty and eager to inspire young people.
- Experienced in teaching, training, coaching or mentoring young people (desirable but not essential).
- Patient, compassionate and resilient, with a genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
- Creative and able to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
- Level 2 qualification or above in Hairdressing, Barbering, Beauty Therapy or a related discipline.
- Full UK driving licence.
