Job Description
Nexus School is seeking a reliable and hardworking Lunchtime Cleaner to help maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety during the school’s lunchtime period. This is a key role in ensuring a healthy environment for our pupils, many of whom have additional educational needs.
You will be part of a friendly and supportive site team, helping to clean the school dining areas and support with hygiene routines across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the school dining hall and surrounding areas during and after lunch
Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively (training provided)
Remove waste and litter, empty bins, and restock hygiene supplies (soap, paper towels, etc.)
Carry out emergency cleaning tasks as needed
Follow Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH and manual handling procedures
Report any hazards or maintenance issues promptly
Support the wider school community with a positive, flexible attitude
Person Specification
Essential:
Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths)
Previous experience in cleaning or facilities roles
Understanding of health, safety and hygiene procedures
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills and awareness of safeguarding procedures
Positive, professional attitude and a willingness to learn
Desirable:
Experience working in a school or around children
Basic First Aid and/or COSHH training
Familiarity with working in SEND environments
