We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly KS1 team. This role involves working closely with the class teacher and class‑based TA to support children across Key Stage 1, including working with individuals, small groups, and delivering 1:1 sessions. The successful candidate will play a key role in continuing children’s learning journey from EYFS into KS1, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition.
The role will include:
- Supporting individual pupils, small groups, and 1:1 sessions to access learning and make progress across the KS1 curriculum.
- Supporting children’s transition into KS1, building on prior learning and ensuring continuity in approach and provision.
- Delivering targeted interventions, particularly in phonics, early reading, and early writing, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
- Supporting and contributing to high‑quality continuous provision, enabling purposeful, engaging learning opportunities.
- Managing behaviour positively and consistently, with a strong focus on building relationships and supporting children’s SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.
- Working closely with children who have EHCPs and personalised learning plans, supporting them to meet their individual targets and milestones.
- Providing intimate care where required, maintaining dignity, respect, and safeguarding at all times.
- Promoting independence, confidence, and resilience through a consistent and nurturing approach.
- Working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to support each child’s needs.
- Contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
We are looking for someone who:

- Has a good understanding of continuous provision, phonics, and early writing.
- Can support children effectively with SEMH needs, building strong, positive relationships.
- Has experience or confidence in supporting children with EHCPs and personalised plans.
- Is able to be consistent in their approach, particularly when supporting behaviour and routines.
- Can work effectively with individuals, small groups, and 1:1 support.
- Can follow direction while also using initiative to support learning.
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and ongoing professional development.
