The predicted salary is between 12 - 15 £ per hour.

Required for September start, a SEN teaching assistant to join our friendly, supportive and highly successful school. This is a one year contract for mornings only (08:45-12:15). We are looking for a kind and caring individual to work with children in Year 5 and 6. We are looking for someone who is flexible in order to fill this unique role.

Experience of working with children with special educational needs is desirable, and ideally experience of working with children with ADHD and ASD. The successful candidate needs to show enthusiasm for the role, as well as being patient and prove they have the skills to help this child to feel comfortable at school, enabling them to fulfil their potential. We require someone who works well within a team and who can use their initiative to help support individual needs.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have knowledge or experience working with children and young people with SEND (especially those with ADHD and ASD).
  • Have the energy and enthusiasm to provide personalised learning experiences to children with SEND.
  • Have a calm, patient and encouraging manner, with an ability to make learning fun.
  • An ability to be self‑motivated and manage time effectively in order to maximise children’s learning time.
  • Flexible and willing to support the child in a variety of situations, possibly including on the playground at break time.

It is essential that the applicant has good literacy/numeracy skills and should preferably hold a teaching assistant qualification. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed, please contact the office to arrange a date and time.
