A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Riverhead Infants’ School team from September 2026. We are seeking a full-time class teacher who is passionate about early years and infant education. This post is not available as a job-share or part-time role. We would warmly welcome applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who have experience of EYFS / KS1 and are committed to working within an infant setting.

The successful candidate will be confident and enthusiastic about teaching in either EYFS or Key Stage 1. As class structures are still being finalised, the precise year group allocation for September has not yet been confirmed.

We are looking for a colleague who:

  • Is a strong, reflective practitioner, confident and happy to work within either EYFS or KS1.
  • Shares our belief that children’s wellbeing deserves equal emphasis alongside academic outcomes.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and shows a thoughtful, reflective approach to their own practice.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of early childhood development, including key developmental milestones for children aged 4–7.
  • Demonstrates a clear appreciation of the importance of play and its role in supporting learning, development and engagement.
  • Is confident in supporting children with a wide range of needs and is fully aligned with our highly inclusive ethos.
  • Works effectively with additional adults in the classroom to secure the best outcomes for all children.
  • Understands behaviour as a form of communication and responds with empathy, consistency and care.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a year group team, as well as contributing to the wider life of the school.
  • Brings warmth, approachability and a good sense of humour, with the optimism to treat each day as a new opportunity.
