We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly KS1 team. This role involves working closely with the class teacher and class-based TA to support children across Key Stage 1, including working with individuals, small groups, and delivering 1:1 sessions. The successful candidate will play a key role in continuing children’s learning journey from EYFS into KS1, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition.
The role will include:
- Supporting individual pupils, small groups, and 1:1 sessions to access learning and make progress across the KS1 curriculum.
- Supporting children’s transition into KS1, building on prior learning and ensuring continuity in approach and provision.
- Delivering targeted interventions, particularly in phonics, early reading, and early writing, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
- Supporting and contributing to high-quality continuous provision, enabling purposeful, engaging learning opportunities.
- Managing behaviour positively and consistently, with a strong focus on building relationships and supporting children’s SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.
- Working closely with children who have EHCPs and personalised learning plans, supporting them to meet their individual targets and milestones.
- Providing intimate care where required, maintaining dignity, respect, and safeguarding at all times.
- Promoting independence, confidence, and resilience through a consistent and nurturing approach.
- Working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to support each child’s needs.
- Contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.

- Can work effectively with individuals, small groups, and 1:1 support.
- Can follow direction while also using initiative to support learning.
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
