To provide dedicated support for a student with physical and learning needs, ensuring full access to the school environment, curriculum, and wider school life. The role requires a compassionate, reliable individual who can build a strong, trusting relationship with the student and their family.
Physical Support
- Support the student in navigating the school site safely and efficiently.
- Assist with moving between lessons and accessing all areas of the school.
- Meet the student from transport at the start of the day and ensure safe access to transport at the end of the day.
- Provide support and supervision during break and lunchtime when required.
- Assist with participation in PE lessons and other physical activities.
- Support the student on school trips and off-site activities.
- Respond to any additional physical needs that arise during the school day. Note: This role does not include personal care.
Learning Support
- Provide in-class support to enable access to the curriculum.
- Help the student understand tasks and instructions.
- Support engagement and participation in lessons.
- Assist with academic progress and organisation of learning.
- Work closely with teaching staff to adapt resources where needed.
Pastoral & Communication
- Build a positive, consistent and supportive relationship with the student.
- Maintain regular communication with parents/carers to support a strong home–school partnership.
- Liaise with teachers and relevant staff to ensure consistent support strategies.
