We are recruiting permanent Social Workers for the Adult Community Social Work teams in West Bromwich, Wednesbury and Tipton across Sandwell. The role focuses on strengths‑based assessments, safeguarding, case management and continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Complete statutory strengths‑based assessments and reviews, including the Care Act (2014) and S42 safeguarding enquiries.
  • Utilise the Mental Capacity Act (2005) for capacity assessments, Court of Protection applications and related court work.
  • Record all case management and key decisions on the case recording system.
  • Analyse information to understand risks and develop strategies to explain, avoid or manage risk appropriately.
  • Actively participate in quality assurance processes, including peer and reflective supervision, using research findings and case discussion to inform practice.
  • Develop and co‑produce support plans with clients to maximise independence for adults with care and support needs.
  • Participate in development and training opportunities such as Practice Educator and Best Interest Assessor.
  • Work with a diverse group of individuals and partner agencies to deliver the best outcomes for customers and carers.

Qualifications

  • Have a degree in Social Work, Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent.
  • Have at least six months of experience in a Social Care environment with adults (including student placements). If you have not completed the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) but are interested in becoming a social worker in Sandwell, you could join Sandwell's ASYE programme.
  • Possess strong analytical, assessment and negotiation skills, strong interpersonal, communication and IT skills, and a vision for your own development.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of current legislation including the Care Act 2014, Safeguarding, Continuing Health Care, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Community DOLS/LPS.
