Museum Technician

Role Overview

Sandwell Museum Service is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Museum Technician to support all aspects of the technical and practical aspects of running our museum sites and deliver a high standard of customer care and public service to visitors of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Join our busy creative team organising and delivering exciting displays and activities to visitors, users, and the local community and be responsible for realising team ideas with regards to designing, preparing, constructing, assembling and installing permanent and temporary displays and bespoke and interactive activities as well as operate and maintain tools.
• Safely handle, clean, pack, and transport museum artefacts, ensure health and safety procedures are followed, conduct risk assessments, and support COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) compliance.
• Work behind the scenes to support the running and maintenance of our busy heritage attractions and community spaces.
• Have a flexible approach to working as there will be regular weekends, bank holidays and evening working.

Working Hours

Hours: 37 hours per week to a flexible rota including regular weekends and some evenings and bank holidays.
