The Role
We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and committed to making a real difference to the lives of our residents and strive to deliver outstanding customer service. As an effective problem-solver, you will work alongside a wide range of key partners, community groups and residents to find solutions for complex issues and make a positive impact on communities and people in Sandwell. You will be responsible for the line management of the Neighbourhood Officers, supporting them to deliver a range of projects across Sandwell. Our core focus is to be Member Led, Customer Focused and Officer Driven. This impacts all the work we do as a team, where we demonstrate our values and behaviours every day.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- You will provide a visible, hands‑on presence and act as a vital point of contact for local businesses, local residents and the wider community to support their involvement in community ownership and promote local priorities.
- You will lead on delivering ward‑based action plans and engagement, proactively supporting ward councillors in fulfilling their community leadership roles and allocating local funding.
- You must be prepared to work outside in all weathers. This role may involve some evening and weekend work to meet community needs.
- This exciting role will play a crucial part in problem‑solving for residents, being an instrumental part of positive change within communities, shaping projects and improving the lives and local area for people in Sandwell.
About You
- Educated to Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Have a minimum of 3 year’s experience of working within a complex environment
- Have experience of establishing and managing collaborative working and partnership models
- Have experience of project work, ensuring its completion
- Have experience of line management responsibilities
- Be customer‑focused, working effectively with others to deliver a responsive, efficient, agile, high quality service to residents
- Able to lead by example and set high standards
- Passionate about delivering the best possible outcomes for the people of Sandwell
- Resilient and able to use your communication skills to influence others
- Experienced in influencing, negotiating and problem solving with partners to deliver outcomes for communities
