We are offering a Social Work Apprenticeship starting in September 2026 where you will gain hands‑on experience, earn a professional qualification, and support individuals, families, and communities. Posts are available in the following teams: Safeguarding Team, Learning Disability Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as a Social Care Officer on a 3‑year fixed‑term contract.
  • Commit to 37 hours per week, potentially across 7 days.
  • Attend Warwick University one day per week, alternating between face‑to‑face and online learning.
  • Evidence the learning through assignments and on‑the‑job activities.
  • Become a qualified social worker and receive a social work post offer upon completion.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Successful candidates will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS with Children and Adults check.
  • Level 2 English certificate is required.
  • Applicants must remain in employment with Sandwell for three years post‑qualification and possess confirmed immigration permission covering the full duration of the programme, including the end‑point assessment. For the 2026 cohort, this permission must allow stay in the UK until at least 7 July 2029.
