Advanced Practitioner Learning Disability & Autism Team

Are you an experienced Social Worker, registered with Social Work England and have worked in a busy Learning Disability & Autism Team? This opportunity within Sandwell Council’s Adult Social Care Service offers a chance to oversee day-to-day operations within the team as an Advanced Practitioner. You will be supported by a strong leadership team and will help shape and deliver our service with a focus on best‑practice and partnership working.

We provide a high-quality service in relation to all aspects of the assessment and care management process.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Social Care Team Manager with providing professional supervision to other team members.
  • Prioritise enquiries from customers and ensure timely, proportionate responses to Care Act Assessments.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and related legislative frameworks.
  • Supervise staff on a day-to-day basis, work in partnership with NHS and other professionals, maintaining a strong customer focus.
  • Apply high professional standards and knowledge of current legislation (Care Act 2014, Continuing Health Care, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, CHC, DOLS/LPS).
  • Hold a Social Work Qualification (DipSW, Social Work Degree or equivalent) and Social Work England Registration.
  • Undertake enhanced DBS with Adults Barring Check.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager as required and promote partnership working and integration within and outside the council.

Qualifications

  • Social Work Qualification (DipSW, Degree or equivalent) and Social Work England Registration.
  • Experience in partnership working, supervising staff or students, and working under pressure with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and related frameworks, and sound knowledge of current legislation including CHC, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and DOLS/LPS.
