The predicted salary is between 22 - 30 Β£ per hour.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated ESOL tutor to join our team on a permanent, part time basis at 0.81 FTE, working 30 hours per week. This is an hourly paid role and offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high quality, inclusive ESOL education for adult learners, supporting their progression from Foundation Level through to Level 2, including employability qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role within the ESOL team in planning, preparing and delivering innovative, engaging and inclusive ESOL lessons for adult learners
  • Teach learners from Foundation Level to Level 2, including employability qualifications
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages progression and achievement
  • Support learners to develop essential skills for work and everyday life
  • Regularly assess learner progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of effective lesson plans
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and implementation
  • Keep up to date with best practice and relevant legislation
  • Promote continuous improvement through creative teaching strategies and learner feedback
  • Uphold organisational standards and ensure an inclusive and supportive learning experience for all learners

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • An ESOL subject specialism or a willingness to work towards one
  • A Certificate in Education or a Level 5 teaching qualification
  • A recognised vocational qualification relevant to the subject area
  • A background in teaching ESOL and Entry Level Maths
  • Familiarity with delivering β€œSkills for Life” qualifications
  • Competence in teaching Entry Level Functional Skills ICT
  • Knowledge of internal and external quality assurance processes (IQA/EQA)
  • A track record of working collaboratively with external agencies, community groups, or partner venues

Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (Β£31,837 - Β£48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

  • DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • Certificate in Education
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
  • DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
  • DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject

If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (Β£26,661 - Β£29,998).

  • CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
