The successful candidate will support the progression of applications and enrolments, working closely with the Adult Essential Skills department to organise interviews, manage learner records, and provide high-quality front-of-house and administrative support. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and an interest in supporting adult learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist visitors, learners, and staff in a professional and welcoming manner
- Manage building access, including intercom use, visitor sign-in, and ID checks
- Support switchboard operations, handling phone calls, emails, and general enquiries
- Maintain a tidy and well-organised front desk and reception area
- Process financial transactions, including cash handling and banking procedures
- Support the enrolment process by processing applications and related documentation
- Contact non-attenders and learners with low attendance and chase missing eligibility paperwork
- Provide guidance on departmental resources and support services
- Assist with planning and promoting workshops, events, and community outreach activities
- Maintain accurate records of learner interactions, enquiries, and data
- Support administrative tasks including data entry, filing, photocopying, and stock control
- Ensure learner timetables, assessments, learning logs, and course documentation are available
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Maths and English at Grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills
- Willingness to work towards a Level 3 qualification in Business Administration
- Some relevant work experience in a customer service or administrative role
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
