We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a Service Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking team at the brand-new Cradley Heath Skills Campus, part of the Sandwell College Group.
This is a permanent, part-time position, working 15 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm) during term time only (36 weeks per year). The role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and passionate about providing great food and excellent service within a modern, welcoming environment.
You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of our on-site catering facilities, ensuring staff, students and visitors enjoy high-quality food and outstanding service at our exciting new campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and service of food and refreshments.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all catering areas.
- Support the Chef Manager and team in setting up and closing down service areas.
- Operate tills and handle payments in line with College procedures.
- Ensure all food hygiene, health and safety regulations are followed at all times.
- Provide a friendly, efficient and professional service to students, staff and visitors.
- Support occasional College hospitality events as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience working in a catering or hospitality environment.
- A good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to work well as part of a team in a busy environment.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
- A catering qualification or experience working within an educational setting.
