Key Responsibilities
As a Lecturer in GCSE English, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English lessons. You will contribute to curriculum development, undertake a teaching load in line with your contract, and be committed to continuous improvement in teaching quality and student experience.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure learners are supported and motivated to achieve their qualifications, and to promote a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in English
- A Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
- Experience delivering and assessing GCSE English
- A strong commitment to student success and continuous professional development
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£30,583 – £46,263), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
Accepted Qualifications:
- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£25,611 – £28,817).
Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:
- PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
