Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment in fabrication, welding, and related engineering disciplines.
- Inspire and support students to gain technical skills and confidence for their future careers.
- Contribute to course planning and development and maintain high standards of delivery and student support across engineering programmes.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Strong background in fabrication and welding within the engineering sector.
- Hands-on industry experience with current techniques and standards (e.g., MIG, TIG, MMA welding).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A recognised teaching qualification at Level 5 or above – or a willingness to work towards this.
You’ll bring industry insight into the classroom, helping students gain practical and relevant skills for their future careers.
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£30,583 – £46,263), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£25,611 – £28,817).
Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:
- PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
