We are excited to be recruiting an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer in Business to join our thriving Business Department at Sandwell College. Reporting to the Head of Section, this role is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and supporting learners to achieve and progress.

Compensation: Β£26,661 - Β£48,160 / year

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment in Business, in line with awarding body requirements
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and assessments to support effective learning
  • Act as a course tutor, supporting learners to achieve targets through progress tracking, reviews and pastoral support
  • Maintain accurate academic and administrative records in line with college requirements
  • Contribute to curriculum development, planning and quality assurance activities
  • Use Information Learning Technology (ILT) and multimedia resources to enhance learning
  • Support recruitment, induction and learner engagement through open events, interviews and parents’ evenings
  • Work collaboratively within course teams to ensure high standards of course delivery
  • Engage with external partners, employers and agencies where appropriate to support learner needs
  • Participate in CPD and contribute to the college’s continuous improvement agenda

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Relevant subject specialism in Business (e.g. degree in a related subject)
  • Teaching qualification (Certificate in Education or Level 5 teaching qualification) or willingness to work towards
  • Experience of teaching Business or related subjects at Level 3 (A Level and/or BTEC)
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and engage learners using diverse teaching methods
  • Confident use of ILT to support teaching and learning
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to the needs of different learner groups

Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding:

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (Β£30,583 - Β£46,263), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

  • DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • Certificate in Education
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
  • DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
