We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Chemistry to join our thriving Science Department at Cadbury Sixth Form College. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to deliver high-quality teaching, inspire learners, and contribute to outstanding student outcomes. You will play a key role in curriculum delivery and development, supporting learners to achieve their potential and enjoy a positive and rewarding sixth form experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Chemistry teaching in line with agreed contractual hours.
  • Plan, teach and assess learners effectively, ensuring strong progress and achievement.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, planning and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Take responsibility for courses and act as a course tutor, providing personal tutoring and pastoral support.
  • Share responsibility within course teams for the quality and consistency of delivery.
  • Use Information Learning Technology (ILT) and multimedia resources to enhance learning.
  • Develop engaging teaching and learning materials appropriate to A-Level study.
  • Support effective student support systems across mainstream programmes.
  • Attend parents’ evenings, open evenings and interview events as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:

  • Degree and/or relevant professional qualification in Chemistry or a related subject.
  • Level 5 Teaching Qualification / Certificate in Education (or willingness to work towards).
  • Experience of excellent teaching and learning practice.
  • Experience delivering relevant qualifications.
  • Ability to prepare and evaluate effective teaching and learning materials.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Confident use of ILT to support learning.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.
  • Willingness to engage in new developments and continuous improvement.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of key skills / functional skills.
  • Experience of internal verification or moderation.

The advertised salary has been calculated pro-rata for the part-time hours applicable to this role.

Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (Β£31,837 - Β£48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

  • DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector).
  • Certificate in Education.
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education).
  • DET (Diploma in Education and Training).
  • DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject.

If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (Β£26,661 - Β£29,998).

Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:

  • PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector).
  • CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector).
  • CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults).
  • SFHEA (Senior Fellowship).
  • Masters in Education.
  • TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
