We are looking for hardworking Ward Based Technician(s) who are ready to start a career or looking for a change and excited to be a part of our team. Who can deliver high quality pharmacy services to our patients and wards. We welcome applications from current students who are due to complete and register, and/or Community or PCN Technicians, and other sectors of pharmacy. We have a robust and detailed training programme to give you all the skills to succeed. Main duties of the job

The post holder must be a qualified NVQ 3 Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will be required to work under the direction of a Senior Pharmacy Technician within Clinical Ward Services. You will support them to manage a group of wards by prioritising your own workload. This will involve drug history taking and medicines reconciliation, undertaking audits, and liaising with other staff. You will be required to contribute to the ACT rota, or will be enrolled onto the course after 6 months, if not already attained. Helping the dispensaries at the end of the day. The ability to deliver high quality care and contribute to the overall success of the team is essential. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; you must be flexible, reliable and conscientious and be able to work in a busy, but driven environment, which may be on any site in the Trust. Working weekends and Bank holidays are a core part of the post and on a rota basis, which incorporates 7 day working.

Person specification

  • Experience of using a pharmacy computer based stock control and dispensing system
  • Evidence of experience of working as a Pharmacy Technician or Preregistration Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or community setting
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of medicines and their safety issues
  • Experience gained in the safe handling of pharmaceutical equipment and medicines used in the dispensing process.
  • Experience of using a prescription tracking system
  • Contribution to the education of less experienced staff, students or assistants
  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • Experience of using CMM/JAC dispensing and stock control systems
  • Experience of using an EPR /EPMA systems

Qualifications

  • Evidence of NVQ level 3 & BTec certificate in pharmacy services or equivalent – must be recognised equivalent as defined by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Evidence of Pharmacy Technician registration with the GPhC
  • Evidence of Dispensing accuracy and willingness to repeat as required
  • Willingness to repeat as required
  • Evidence of National Technician Checking Accreditation or willingness to attain
  • Accreditation or willing to attain in house Medicines Management training as required
  • You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
