Job overview
The catering department is looking to recruit a part-time experienced Catering Assistant to work at our new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick within Patient Services. Applicants must have previous catering experience with high standards of work, be an outgoing, hard-working, and enthusiastic individual that is able to work on their own initiative.
Week 1:
- Tuesday 6 hours relief
- Wednesday & Thursday 16.00pm - 20.00pm
- Saturday & Sunday 14.00pm - 20.00pm
Week 2:
- Monday 14.00pm - 20.00pm
- Tuesday 16.00pm - 20.00pm
- Wednesday 6 hours relief
- Thursday 6 hours relief
Applicants are required to be flexible in their approach to hours and duties and able to work additional shifts as and when required.
Main duties of the job
To carry out a wide range of general catering duties in an efficient and effective manner to ensure that a high quality service is provided at all times. This post has a significant amount of personal contact with Staff, Patients, and Members of the Public. Duties include washing up patient crockery and cutlery, reheating patient food, dealing with any requests from wards, associated general/deep cleaning duties, and completion of control paperwork.

Previous catering experience required. Experience of work in environments where a methodical and organised approach to work can be demonstrated.
Qualifications
Willingness to undertake and achieve the level 2 Food Safety Certificate, COSHH Training, and Trust Mandatory Training Courses. Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020, and a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
