Hours: Working hours - 33.25 hours per week, term time only and training days, 8.15am - 4.00pm (Friday 3.30pm), at the discretion of the Head.

Salary: Level 2 - SCP 4-7 | Level 3 - SCP 8-11

Job Purpose

To work under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo to support individual students or groups in accessing the curriculum. The role is primarily classroom-based and involves assisting with the delivery of differentiated learning and behaviour support, while promoting inclusion and student wellbeing.

Accountability

You are accountable to the SENDCo for all work undertaken and are expected to work in accordance with the school’s safeguarding, inclusion, and behaviour policies at all times.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support individual students or small groups to access the differentiated curriculum, assisting with learning tasks as directed by the class teacher.
  • Help with the planning and preparation of learning resources, under the guidance of teaching staff.
  • Support the implementation, recording, and monitoring of strategies and interventions for students with additional needs.
  • Contribute to the implementation and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Student Profiles.
  • Work with students on a 1:1 or small group basis, in or out of the classroom, as directed by the teacher or SENDCo.
  • Encourage and promote positive behaviour and social interaction through consistent, supportive engagement with students, following any individual behaviour or support plans.
  • Share feedback and observations regarding students’ welfare, behaviour, and achievement with the class teacher, SENDCo, and relevant staff.
  • Provide pastoral and academic support to students, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the SENDCo to meet the needs of the school and students.
  • Attend relevant training and INSET days as part of ongoing professional development.
  • Work in accordance with the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies, reporting any concerns immediately in line with procedures.
