Join our friendly greenkeeping team at Sandown Park Golf Centre in Esher, Surrey. We’ve got a lovely parkland-style setting with three 9-hole courses, a grass practice tee, and a covered driving range. This is a full-time, permanent role based on a 40-hour week, with weekend working scheduled on a rota basis. The successful candidate would report to the Head Greenkeeper in carrying out routine golf course maintenance in accordance with the Club’s Golf Course Maintenance Policy, its Health and Safety Policy and the Greenkeepers\' Code of Conduct.

Essential:
o Experience in grounds maintenance, preferably on a golf course.
o Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and time management skills.
o Good communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to follow instructions and work well independently and in a team.
o Willingness to learn and a flexible, positive attitude.
o Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
o A full clean driving licence may be required.
o Working outdoors in all weather conditions, being prepared for early morning starts and potential weekend work, especially in busier seasons.
o Being physically fit and able to undertake tasks requiring bending, lifting, and digging.
Desirable
o NVQ Level 2 Sports Turf Management or similar qualification.
o Relevant certificates for pesticide application (PA1, PA2, PA6), chainsaw operation (CS30, CS31), or health and safety (IOSH Working Safely).
o Knowledge of the rules of golf.
*Key duties and responsibilities*
Course Maintenance:
o Mowing greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and surrounds using a variety of machinery, including ride-on mowers, and specialist hand mowers.
o Preparing the course for daily play: including removing dew and debris from greens, raking bunkers, changing holes and moving tee markers.
o Maintaining and renovating bunkers and other hazards like water features.
o Repairing wear and tear caused by golfers and animals.
o Attending to drainage problems and maintaining irrigation systems.
o Planting and pruning trees and shrubs around the course.
o Building bunkers and other playing areas, and sometimes whole new courses or sports facilities.
Equipment Maintenance:
o Operating and maintaining a wide range of specialised machinery and tools safely and competently, including ride-on mowers, hand mowers, strimmer’s and blowers. spreaders.
Health and Safety and Environmental Responsibilities:
* Adhering to golf club or employer policies and procedures, observing relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
* Liaising with golfers and the general public, responding to enquiries, and dealing with complaints in a friendly and helpful way.
