Are you an experienced Workshop Controller, Service Controller looking for your next challenge?
We're looking for a highly organised and motivated Workshop Controller to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy Nottingham workshop, supporting a team of around 20 technicians to deliver exceptional customer service, productivity, and quality.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and growing automotive retailer where you'll play a key role in maximising workshop efficiency, driving team performance, and ensuring our customers receive an outstanding experience.
About the Role
As Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for the effective scheduling and control of all workshop activity, ensuring technicians are fully utilised while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Working closely with the Service Manager, Service Advisors, Parts Department, and Technician team, you will help ensure smooth workshop operations and achieve key performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and allocate workshop jobs efficiently across a team of approximately 20 technicians.
- Monitor productivity, efficiency, and workshop loading to maximise performance.
- Ensure all work is completed within agreed timescales and manufacturer standards.
- Support technicians with job prioritisation and technical challenges where required.
- Liaise with Service Advisors and the Parts Department to ensure seamless workflow.
- Conduct quality checks and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Monitor work in progress and proactively communicate delays or issues.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and company policies.
- Assist with technician development, coaching, and performance management.
- Drive continuous improvement within workshop processes and operations.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Foreman, Workshop Supervisor, or similar automotive leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle repair and servicing processes.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- A customer-focused approach with a commitment to quality.
- Experience working within a franchised dealership environment would be advantageous.
- A full UK driving licence.
