£552/day Inside IR-35 for an initial 3 months with the possibility to extend.

Requires eligibility for SC Clearance or an Active SC Clearance.

100% on site in Barrow-In-Furness.

We're seeking an experienced UNIX Engineer to support and enhance an enterprise UNIX estate built on Oracle Solaris and T‐series hardware. You'll be responsible for the day‐to‐day management of Solaris systems, working with virtualised environments and contributing to critical migration and upgrade projects.

The role has a strong focus on availability and resilience, including the design and support of clustered solutions. You'll work closely with infrastructure and application teams, taking ownership of performance, stability and compliance, and resolving complex UNIX issues across production environments.

Mandatory skills and experience:
  • Hands‐on experience administering Oracle Solaris in enterprise environments
  • Strong expertise with LDOMs (Logical Domains) and UNIX virtualisation
  • Experience working with Oracle T‐series hardware (T5, T7, T8)
  • Proven background in UNIX migrations, upgrades and system support
  • Solid understanding of UNIX networking, storage and security
Desirable skills and experience:
  • Experience designing or supporting high‐availability or resilience clusters
  • Exposure to disaster recovery and failover solutions
  • Background working in large, regulated or mission‐critical environments
