A global client is seeking several Technical Authors and Technical Writers on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will maintain customer documentation for products, in accordance with in-house quality standards. This documentation includes, but is not limited to, instruction manuals and spare parts manuals, for employee usage as well as end clients.

Overview of the Technical Author role:

  • Plan, research, write, and edit documents from conception to delivery to fulfil customer requirements.
  • Convey procedures in a consistent, clear, well-structured way, using concise and accurate terminology to ensure understanding and avoid confusion.
  • Create and manipulate images, either photographs or illustrations, to complement the text in documents.

Key skills and qualifications required for the Technical Author role:

  • A degree, HNC/HND qualification or equivalent experience in mechanical or electromechanical engineering, or time served in forces or engineering apprenticeships.
  • A number of years in technical authoring/writing experience in an engineering environment, writing instruction manuals for complex products.
  • Experience in the use of an XML authoring application.

This is a permanent opportunity that includes a base salary of up to £45,000 plus bonus and benefits.
