We are seeking an experienced AWS Platform Engineer to support the design, build and operation of a modern cloud-native platform. This is a long-term contract opportunity, running initially until June 2026 with multiple extensions planned. You will be working on a critical AWS estate that underpins multiple business critical services.
You will enable development squads through robust infrastructure, automation and Kubernetes based delivery. This role is hands-on, delivery-focused and suited to an engineer who is comfortable owning platform reliability, scalability and security in a complex environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain AWS based platform infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
- Develop and manage Kubernetes (EKS) clusters to support containerised workloads
- Implement and maintain Terraform modules and standards across environments
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for cloud native applications
- Collaborate closely with DevOps, SRE and development teams to improve platform maturity
- Ensure platform resilience, performance, availability and cost optimisation
- Embed security and compliance best practices into platform design (IAM, networking, policies)
- Troubleshoot platform issues, support incident resolution and drive root cause analysis
- Contribute to platform documentation, standards and continuous improvement initiatives
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience as an AWS Platform / Cloud / DevOps Engineer
- Deep knowledge of AWS services, particularly EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, CloudWatch
- Proven commercial experience with Kubernetes in production environments
- Strong Terraform experience (module design, state management, best practices)
- Experience working with containerisation (Docker)
- CI/CD tooling experience (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD)
- Solid Linux fundamentals and scripting experience (Bash, Python or similar)
- Experience operating platforms in complex, multi-environment setups
Desirable Experience:
- Experience with platform security, policy as code or compliance frameworks
- Exposure to SRE practices (observability, SLIs/SLOs, incident management)
- Experience supporting large-scale or regulated environments
- AWS certifications (Associate or Professional level)
