Job Description
Job Title: Network EngineerLocation: Birmingham (Up to 5 days on site)Salary: £55,000 – £63,000 + Company bonus + Benefits
Must be eligible for SC & DV Clearances (This role will require you to be eligible and willing to undergo a high level of security clearance.)
Our client, a primary technical partner of the Ministry of Defence, is looking to add a Network Engineer to their team. In this role, you'll work collaboratively within service and project teams to design and implement medium to large-scale network solutions and changes. Your work will help deliver cost-effective services while supporting the wider mission of keeping UK Defence agile and secure.
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for:
- Work on delivery opportunities within the secure Defence and National Security sector.
- Understand business and technical requirements for network solutions.
- Produce relevant design collateral, including documentation required for governance reviews.
- Provide hands-on support for network configuration and implementation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project delivery.
Skills and experience required:
- Strong technical networking knowledge of:
- LAN switching and topologies
- Routing protocols (e.g., BGP, MPLS)
- VPNs, IPSec, and hardware encryption
- Proficient in Cisco or Juniper technologies, including experience with JUNOS or Cisco IOS
- Demonstrable network device configuration skills, network troubleshooting skills and approach to defect resolution
- Solid understanding of the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and service handover
- Demonstrable design experience in proposing and utilising technologies from global network vendors such as Cisco and Juniper, including production of quality technical documentation for delivery and solution support
