Clothing Designer - Schoolwear & Sportswear - Altrincham, £32,000, 9 Month FTC, Hybrid
We're looking for a Clothing Designer to join a well-established apparel business, working across schoolwear, sportswear and children's accessories on a 9-month fixed-term contract. The role offers hybrid working, with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
You'll be involved in designing and developing products from initial concept through to production, combining creativity with a strong understanding of fabrics, garment construction and commercial requirements. This is a great opportunity to work across multiple product categories within a collaborative and creative team.
What we're looking for:
- Previous clothing design experience, ideally around 3 years
- Degree in Fashion Design or a related subject
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction and manufacturing
- Confident using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
- Experience creating technical packs and garment specifications
- Creative, commercially minded and highly organised
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
What you'll be doing:
- Designing and developing schoolwear, sportswear and accessories
- Taking products from initial concept through to production
- Researching trends, fabrics, colours and competitor activity
- Creating mood boards, prints, graphics and product ranges
- Producing technical packs and garment specifications
- Managing samples, fittings and product approvals
- Working closely with suppliers and manufacturers
- Ensuring designs meet quality and commercial requirements
