We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer to join a major public sector digital transformation programme. This is an opportunity to play a key role in defining and delivering quality assurance strategies across complex, large-scale services, ensuring the highest standards of testing, automation, and non-functional assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, own, and communicate testing strategies aligned with delivery objectives, business risk, and government service standards.
- Select and tailor appropriate testing approaches, including manual, automated, exploratory, and risk-based testing across complex systems and integrations.
- Provide expert guidance on test scope, entry and exit criteria, and quality risks to delivery teams and stakeholders.
- Balance effective quality assurance with the practical demands of agile delivery environments.
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of automated testing frameworks.
- Determine where automation provides value while ensuring maintainability and risk-based coverage.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and help improve development feedback cycles.
- Evaluate and recommend testing tools, frameworks, and best practices to enhance delivery effectiveness.
- Plan, build, and execute non-functional testing activities, including:
- Performance testing
- Accessibility testing
- Security testing
- Resilience testing
- Interoperability testing
- Collaborate with technical specialists and third-party suppliers to ensure appropriate testing coverage.
- Analyse and communicate testing outcomes in terms of business and user impact, not just technical results.
- Ensure sufficient evidence is available to support informed release and deployment decisions.
