My client is hiring for a Platform Engineer and is very open to candidates coming from a software engineering background who have worked closely with infrastructure and now want to move further into platform engineering. Experience with AWS or GCP is ideal.
The business is scaling rapidly, having recently closed a significant funding round with leading investors. This is a genuine growth hire within a high performing engineering organisation.
You will join a highly skilled platform engineering team and play a key role in shaping and evolving cloud infrastructure and internal tooling. The platform team builds scalable and secure infrastructure alongside self service tooling that enables product engineers to move quickly and safely. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure the platform is reliable, efficient and easy to work with.

What you will be doing
- As a Platform Engineer, you will help drive best practices across cloud architecture, automation, reliability and developer experience.
- You will design and deliver robust solutions that support the operation and continuous improvement of a globally scaled consumer product.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, building and maintaining scalable and secure cloud infrastructure
- Developing internal tooling to improve developer experience and delivery speed
- Implementing infrastructure as code to manage cloud resources efficiently
- Building and maintaining CI CD pipelines for applications and infrastructure
- Partnering with product engineering teams on secure and scalable designs
- Improving observability through monitoring, logging and alerting
- Supporting incident response, fault tolerance and disaster recovery practices
- Automating operational processes to increase reliability and reduce friction
- Evaluating and adopting new tools and technologies where appropriate
What you will bring

Experience
- Around 2 or more years in a Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps or infrastructure focused role
- Or a strong software engineering background with hands on infrastructure exposure
- Production experience working with AWS or GCP
- Experience supporting scalable cloud systems and modern deployment approaches
Skills
- Hands on experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure
- Experience with serverless and event driven systems such as EventBridge, SNS, SQS or Kafka
- Good understanding of cloud networking, security and identity concepts
- Experience using infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CDK or CloudFormation
- Working knowledge of Docker and containerisation
- Experience with CI CD pipelines
- Familiarity with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog or Prometheus
- A pragmatic mindset with strong communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, iterative engineering environment
Salary and benefits
Salary range is £75,000 to £90,000 depending on experience, plus participation in a long term incentive scheme. Benefits include flexible working with 2 to 3 days per week in the London office and 25 days holiday.
