Sanderson Recruitment are exclusively supporting a FTSE 100 Financial Services and Insurance business in the search for a Mobile Staff Engineer. This strategic, handsâon role will lead the technical direction across native Android and iOS applications while guiding the transition away from crossâplatform solutions (Capacitor) toward true native development. You will own architecture and quality endâtoâend, drive delivery best practices (TDD, security, performance, CI/CD), and raise mobile engineering maturity across squads building customerâfacing apps used at national scale.
Key responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and deliver complex native mobile solutions across Android and iOS.
- Ensure seamless integration between mobile apps, web layers, and backâend services.
- Champion TDD, secure coding practices, performance optimisation, and CI/CD.
- Establish and enforce mobile engineering best practices and patterns (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture).
- Lead technical reviews, produce highâquality documentation, and progress the technical roadmap.
- Coach and mentor engineers; foster a culture of trust, creativity, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute actively to Agile ceremonies and collaborate closely with product, web/software, and data teams.
- Own nonâfunctional requirements and guide teams through app store submission and release processes.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Expert native mobile development across Android (Kotlin/Java, Android Studio) and iOS (Swift/ObjectiveâC, Xcode).
- Proven track record of shipping to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- Strong CI/CD experience for mobile.
- Solid grasp of security best practices and performance profiling.
- Experience with analytics/crash reporting and push notifications.
- Excellent communication and influence skills; ability to mentor and uplift teams.
