Sanderson Recruitment are exclusively supporting a FTSE 100 Financial Services and Insurance business in the search for a Gen AI Staff Engineer. This is a handsāon technical leadership position, ideal for a dynamic and proactive engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges and driving technical excellence in a fastāpaced, innovative environment.
You will lead the design, development and delivery of advanced AI solutions, including Machine Learning and LLM. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the GenAI strategy, setting technical direction and ensuring robust, scalable and secure AI implementations. Working closely with engineering, data, security, architecture and operations teams, you will mentor engineers and help the organisation adopt GenAI responsibly.
Key Responsibilities:- Architect, build and maintain AI solutions, including ML and LLM applications.
- Lead technical design from requirements gathering to live release.
- Ensure seamless integration of AI components with APIs, data and userāfacing systems.
- Own testing, monitoring, security, performance and DevSecOps for AI systems.
- Drive technical excellence, set engineering standards and mentor junior engineers.
- Encourage and practice Test Driven Development and delivery best practices.
- Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies and technical forums.
- Address technical debt and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, communicating effectively with both technical and nonātechnical audiences.
- Proven experience as a Staff-level engineer with handsāon software development expertise.
- Significant experience building GenAI solutions (ML and LLM).
- Experience with REST APIs and SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL).
- Cloud experience, ideally with GCP and Vertex.AI or Azure and AzureAI.
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
- Advanced Prompt Engineering skills and experience with 3rdāparty models (e.g., Anthropic).
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and mentoring skills, with a proven ability to upāskill and develop team capabilities.
- Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology and DevSecOps practices.
- Knowledge of identity management frameworks, security tools and performance testing.
Location: Fully remote, must be UK based
Salary: up to £84,000 (depending on experience)
