Lead Technologist (QA/Product Development/NPD/R&D)
Consumer Electrical – Garden and DIY tools
Warwickshire – hybrid 2 days in the office.
As Lead Technologist, you’d be the technical authority for consumer electricals across the Garden & DIY Category, with direct impact on everything from product safety and quality, to innovation, supplier performance, and customer experience.
You’d work across the full product lifecycle — from initial development through to launch — helping make sure all Garden and DIY products are safe, legally compliant, and built to a consistently high standard.
You’d be responsible for:
- Leading the technical agenda for the entire Electrical Garden & DIY tools category
- Working with a wide network of suppliers, designers, buyers, and overseas teams (especially our Asia sourcing office)
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
- Managing risk assessments, product testing, and technical documentation
- Troubleshooting product issues and supporting cost-saving or process improvement initiatives
- Driving continuous improvement across supply chains, production quality, and sustainability
It’s a highly collaborative role where your decisions will directly influence product success, brand reputation, and customer trust.
We’re ideally looking for someone with:
- Solid experience as a technologist or QA/Compliance expert in consumer electricals ideally within DIY or Garden tools
- Strong understanding of product safety legislation
- Experience working with suppliers, particularly Far East sourcing
- Confident communication skills – you’ll be dealing with everyone from suppliers to exec teams
- A customer-first mindset – someone who cares about how products perform in real hands
- And ideally, some leadership or mentoring experience.
