Role: Lead Java Engineer – Risk & Compliance Platform
Location: London (hybrid)
Are you an exceptional Java engineer ready to step into a true leadership role within one of the most critical platforms in global banking? We’re working with a top-tier financial institution who are expanding their Risk & Compliance Platform Team and are looking for a Lead Engineer to help shape and deliver large-scale, business-critical systems across Market and Credit Risk.
Responsibilities
- You’ll be responsible for designing, building, testing and implementing high-quality software across the full system lifecycle, while working closely with senior engineering leadership, architects and key business stakeholders to influence technical direction and platform strategy.
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a technically strong Lead Engineer with deep server-side expertise and a passion for building resilient, scalable systems. You’ll be comfortable leading complex engineering initiatives, influencing design decisions, and mentoring other engineers within the team.
You’ll bring strong experience in:
- Core Java, with a deep understanding of multithreading and concurrency
- Grid Computing
- Cloud-native development, ideally on GCP
- Kubernetes and containerised environments
- Designing and delivering systems that operate at scale with high availability and resilience
Experience within Market Risk or Credit Risk is highly desirable, and candidates with exposure in this domain will be prioritised. You’ll also be capable of translating complex business and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions, while maintaining a strong focus on performance, security and operational excellence.
