Hybrid Cloud Specialist (VMware/ AWS)
Location: Bristol (hybrid- 2 days a week onsite)
Duration: FTC until August 2026Salary: Β£50,000 β Β£56,000 per annum

Hybrid Cloud Specialist β About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to become a key technical authority within a flagship UK-wide research platform. You'll be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing hybrid cloud environments-both public (AWS) and on-premises (VMware)-to support advanced R&D
You'll collaborate with researchers, technical teams, and external stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions, contribute to grant applications, and influence the evolution of a national hybrid cloud infrastructure.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deploy, build and manage multi-tenancy cloud platforms (VMware & AWS)
- Provide expert input into infrastructure design, procurement, and deployment
- Support experimental research through cloud engineering and troubleshooting
- Lead technical documentation and compliance efforts
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- Proven expertise in hybrid cloud engineering (VMware & AWS)
- Advanced knowledge of VMware technologies (vSphere, NSX, vSAN, vCloud, NSX)
- Strong AWS experience (VPC, IAM, EC2, Lambda, EKS, etc.)
- Solid networking and security skills
- Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Relevant qualifications or 3+ years of hands-on experience
Desirable:
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK
- Familiarity with OpenStack, OpenShift, Azure, and monitoring tools
- Understanding of cloud financial management and orchestration
